Hi, I'm
Maybellene
Aung. Mechanical -> Software
nice to meet you.
I'm currently navigating a career change to a Full Stack Developer, through the Ada Developers Academy 11 mo. core program. I expect to finish the academic portion, and start my CS internship in Seattle by Feb 2025.
I was previously worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 4 years. I solved client's engineering problems and turn ideas into reality with functional prototypes. I'm excited to use that creative problem-solving skills in a digital form!
My past employment include: Quartus Engineering, Span, Volta, NN Life Science and Draper Labs.

Inspired by Ada Lovelace, the world's first computer programmer, Ada Developers Academy strives to give women/gender expansive professionals an opportunity to transition to a career in tech, while getting paid to study and work. This 11-month program consists of 5 months of study and 6 months of funded internship with a corporate partner. Look forward to my capstone project, other projects (ie recreate portfolio), work experience coming soon :)
• Accepted into a selective and intensive (>45 hr/wk) program to transition into a career in tech
• Developing interactive front-end interfaces using semantic HTML, modern CSS, and JavaScript, with a focus on Axios for API integration and React to enable dynamic user experiences
• Creating backend systems with Flask, SQLAlchemy, and PostgreSQL to design and implement RESTful APIs
• Employing a test driven development approach to account for edge cases and code robustness
• Spearheading “Daily Leetcode Challenge” group (~33 members) within cohort to foster growth and community

I worked as a Mechanical Engineer full time for 2 years. Quartus is a Engineering design consultancy firm.

At Quartus, I oversaw 2 project's full product development life cycle. I worked in a small team with 2 other engineers to start from initial brainstorming phase to delivering functional prototypes, prepped for larger scale production.
I lead designs for specific modules within this overall assembly. Within this small group, I was a major stakeholder in every modules and the assembly as a whole. As my skillset increased, I took on larger roles outside technical engineering such as presenting to the clients' on a weekly basis, managing the BOM, and liaison for procurement across many groups.

I had to redact a lot of info/censor photos to respect the client's privacy and IP.

About me
Hey- You scrolled this far! Let me tell you more about the human behind this. I'm Maybellene. Originally from Myanmar (aka Burma) , but first in my family born in America, we had a humble immigrant start in Queens, NY and then Westchester, NY. Seeking a non-traditional education, I went to school at Northeastern University for 5 year co-op program.
As a person, I am extremely passionate about sustainability about environment and fighting the housing problem, particularly with the use of engineering to maintain a high quality of living with tech but low footprint and price. I love non traditional homes that contradict the advertised American dream suburbia. I lived partially in my self-made camper!
